Posted February 07, 2019 05:12:11A Facebook ad costs $3.99 per user in the US and $5.99 in Canada, according to the company’s latest earnings report, which was published Wednesday.
Facebook has become the first major social media platform to disclose the cost of ad campaigns.
In its earnings call, Facebook said that ad revenue in the United States increased 15 percent in 2018, while ad revenue across the world fell 11 percent, while the average cost per user increased by an average of $2.15 per user.
“We know that it’s very important for people to share their experiences with their friends and families, and that means having them see their ads,” Zuckerberg said in a statement.
Zuckerberg said the number of people who see ads has grown since 2015, when Facebook launched its original ad platform.
Advertisers have been using the platform to target people with specific interests and demographics, which have helped Facebook become a popular platform for online advertising.
The average cost of an ad is $3 per user, and advertisers can spend $5 on Facebook advertising, Facebook wrote.
It said the cost to reach the average consumer was $3 to $8 per user last year, and the average dollar spent per ad was $2,637.
Facebook’s earnings report is not the first time it has revealed the cost and revenue of its ads.
Last year, the social network reported that it spends more than $50 million a year on ads and other digital products to reach its users.
According to the social media giant, the average ad cost per person was $8.40 in 2018.
At least one ad network is using Facebook as a tool to target ads for advertisers, and it could soon change that strategy, according Toomas Hendrik Ilves, an analyst at Wedbush Securities.
If Facebook can increase ad revenue by 10 percent a year, that could mean advertisers can increase their spend by $100 million, he said.
